along Victoria
me on board the Big Bus ^^ Day 2 // January 14 2007
We left our hotel about 9 am after we had our breakfast. We bought tickets from the Big Bus Company, one of the tourist buses you'll find in London, and started exploring the city. I was really excited to finally see the famous London landmarks like the Big Ben, London Eye, Tower of London, Tower Bridge and many more....
Our first stop was the Marble Arch near Hyde Park. We stopped by for a while to take some pictures and then went back to the bus stop to catch the next bus. There were a number of tourists waiting as well and good thing we were able to catch some seats for ourselves at the upper deck. The guide we had on the bus was really funny but I can't remember her jokes anymore. I just remembered she was funny. hehe..
Anyway, we stayed in the bus for a while just enjoying everything we saw. We passed by St. Paul's Cathedral and though parts of it were being renovated, I could still see it's impressive beauty. We then got off at Trafalgar square and after posing for some pictures there,
we walked all the way to the Houses of Parliament and saw Big Ben. The feeling of finally seeing it for real is undescribable. After so many years of just watching it on tv and movies, I was finally there looking up to it!
There was a bus stop for the Big Bus Company nearby so we hopped on the next one and continued our journey to the Tower Bridge and then to Tower of London. Before we took the river cruise we had some fish and chips for lunch. The taste wasn't bad but I couldn't eat all of it. We then took the river cruise from the Tower of London and saw a lot of the city like the London Eye, the London Bridge (different from the Tower Bridge), the London Aquarium and many more. After that, we went back to the hotel for some rest, had dinner and went to the Buckingham Palace at night.
Day 3 // January 15 2007
On our third day, we saw the Albert Memorial, more of Hyde Park, the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain and the Kensignton Palace. We got on the Big Bus again and passed by
James Barry's house (the writer of Peter Pan who I really look up to) and then to Madam Tussauds Wax Museum. I was able to purchase a child ticket at the museum because I do look like I'm only 14 even though I was already 20. At least I was able to save money hehe.
So we went inside Madam Tussauds and saw a pretty lot of wax figures of Hollywood stars, politicians, and other famous people. My favorite were the three wax figures from the Pirates of the Caribbean movie since I'm a huge fan of Jack Sparrow aka Johnny Depp. And then I saw one more figure at the corner and wondered who it was from the movie so I looked closer and the damn figure moved and talked! Bloody figure was alive and I screamed! It scared me to death and good for her I didn't have a knife with me (and why would I carry a knife around London, eh?) and I would have stabbed her to death already. Hehe. I wanted to check out the Chamber Live (scary part) but my aunt was scared to go and I didn't want to go alone after
Big Ben and I
so many tourists! being traumatized just minutes before. The last part of the museum was the London Spirit, if I remember it right, and there you will see some sort of history of the city.
After that we went back to Victoria and had lunch. I surfed the internet for a while to catch up on friends, and then in the late afternoon we went to Oxford street. There we found so many shops to choose from but all we did was walking and just looking around. When we started feeling tired we went back to Victoria (our hotel is in that area) and had some steak for dinner. We talked a lot that night and went home at 11 pm already. I slept immediately when we got back to our hotel room.
Day 4 // January 16 2007
We didn't see much of London this day. We spent most of our day talking and hanging out with the people we've met in the Filipino stores in Victoria. But in the late afternoon we went to Harrods again and went inside to see what they were selling. We checked the price tags and everything was expensive so we left and
London
view from Trafalgar Square checked out the other shops on the street instead. My aunt did a little more shopping since it was on sale and so many clothes to choose from and also it was a bit less expensive than in Oslo.
We went back to our hotel and started packing our stuff. She's going back to Oslo the next day and I was gonna stay for one more week alone in London. The owner of the Filipino store we've been going to offered me a room to share with her daughter but it wasn't for free but it's much better than staying in a hotel which I can not afford on my own. So the next few days I'm going to be exploring more of London on my own... ^^
