I’ve been travelling back home from Edgware since 2018 and have found it interesting to see the country walks which have been shown me from the windows every time I travelled on the bus. On e of them is Dollis Brook Walk via Woodside Park which runs Totteridge/Whetstone to the viaduct for Mill Hill East Northern Line branch. We decided to do this walk on Tuesday, 11th May.

After having lunch, we took the Piccadilly Line to Arnos Grove and took the No.251 bus from Arnos Grove. We got off at Totteridge/Whetstone station. The trekking course stared from the green park, a few minutes walks from the bus stop. We were following the winding footpath along Dollis Brook. Clear water was flowing on Dollis Brook which was surrounded by dense bushes, old trees and wild flowers, e.g. bluebells and garlic flowers offered us picturesque scenery and peaceful atmosphere at everywhere along the course. Old trees’ roots were growing healthily in the moist and warm climate along the brook and peaceful and therapeutic atmosphere seemed to attract and encourage wild life to thrive – we were blessed with waterfowls and birds’ singing. The footpath passed Argyle Road and Sussex

Ring where No.221 bus goes passed every day. We continued walking down to Nether Court. By the end of the course, we saw the impressive, lofty brick building, viaduct for Mill Hill East Northern Line branch. We walked through the residential area and reached the road ‘Abercorn Road’ and caught the No.221 bus to Wood Green.

I did not know such an impressive viaduct standing near the No.221 bus route, which I travelled back home from Edgware.
