Mary, Jeff, Wayne and I all went on a very long walk with Lucy and Sophie (my dogs!).

We met bright and early (9am) in Chelmsford on a cold, foggy winters day. The dogs were shocked at the early wake up call (7.30am) and the huge breakfast they had!

We set out wearing our walking boots, fleeces and backpacks. Our destination was Heybridge Basin (approx 14miles away).

The way was muddy, the weather cold. We walked faster than expected and so made our lunch stop of Papermill Lock by 11am. We had sandwiches for lunch and the dogs ate some crunch before we continued on our way passing locks, boats, geese, ducks and kingfishers.

We made record time arriving at Heybridge Basin by 2.30pm ish and stopped at the Old Ship pub (outside as we were all v muddy and the view was great) for a pint before Wayne drove us back to Chelmsford to pick up our cars. Tired muddy but happy after a good days exercise.
