The Magnificent 7 Gang
L to R: Steve, Rob, Gill, Dave We had to go back down south from Sutton Coldfield to Billericay, Essex (Jan 5-8) as we had final visits to Doctors for travel antibiotics, malaria tablets as well as 3 final vaccines for our trip.
Dave and I feel like walking petri-dishes or lab specimens with the amounts of disease samples that have been pumped into our arms over the last few months. Talk about testing our immune systems! Who would have thought that your body could cope with creating immunity for rabies, Japanese encephalitis and Hep B ALL at once?! - The nurse however assured us that indeed, it could as she rather too briskly shot all three vaccines into us at once.
Interestingly - when I asked the nurse if she ever went to the countries she so frequently vaccinated for, she shook her head vehemently and answered that no, she never dared step out of Europe now that she knows the health horrors that can befall you abroad. Hardly reassuring considering that we are going everywhere BUT Europe!
We stayed with Dave’s sister Gail & her boyfriend Paul for the weekend and had a goodbye party for Dave with all

L to R: Dave and his sister Gail of his mates the Saturday night (Jan 7) at the local Billericay “Pilgrim Pub”. Pictures (some attached) show the evidence that the turnout was fantastic, a good time was had by all, and Dave was amongst those who drank enough to severely suffer on the Sunday.
It was really great to see and meet everyone there and thanks to all of you who managed to turn out for those few hours and give us a memorable send off.
