We had a full day to explore Lake Lucerne today. Our tour guide took us on a walking and bus tour of the main sights of Lucerne, including a visit to the famous Lion Monument. Switzerland is the perfect place to shop for watches, chocolate and Swiss army knives, so many of the group are sporting new accessories. The boat cruise of the lake allowed us to admire the scenery and beautiful houses, including the home of the composer Wagner.
We then headed to Endelberg and made our way to Mount Titlis. The weather was spectacular; our guide said she had not seen such favourable conditions on the mountain before. We took cable cars 10,000 feet up to the top of the mountain and enjoyed the birds-eye view of the mountain peaks, fir trees heavy laden with snow and the skiers carving up the runs. We walked through the glacier caves and played in the snow. We ate lunch in the highest restaurant in Europe.
Tonight we had free time to sample some Swiss food, do some final shopping and absorb the ambience of our favourite city so far.
