From when I last left it I was in Austria, Vienna. From there I went to Budapest, Hungary. I spent a day in Budapest seeing all the sights quickly and so fourth. The city is unique and beautiful but there is one problem, at least it became a problem for me, not manz speak English. So, from Budapest I was planning on taking an overnight train to Prague which was supposed to go through Slovakia to the Czech Republic. I went and told the lady at the ticket office where I wanted to go and when and she gave me a ticket. Later that day when I went back to catch my train I was trying to find the train on the board and couldnīt. I asked some people in the station and no one could understand what I wanted or couldnīt explain to me what they wanted to say. So, I knew the train was supposed to go through Slovakia and I saw a train leaving that was going to a town right on the boarder of Slovakia and was leaving at the same time as mz train to Prague was supposed to leave, so I got on it. It
took me to the Slovakia/Hungary border to a little one street town with a train station and a bar. There was no train to connect to that was taking me the rest of the way. I was in this little town in the middle of no where with no one that could speak English and no more Hungarian money since I thought I was on a train out of that country. So, I sat and prepared myself to sleep on the street until morning when I could find another train out of there. Then I realized that the train that I had come on was getting ready to leave. It was the only train there and I basically thought, no place can be worse than here. Luckily the train took me back to Budapest, unluckily I got in after midnight with no money and planning on catching a 6am train out of there. So, I curled up on the sidewalk outside the closed train station and slept on the streets of Budapest, quite an experience.
Although I didnīt really sleep, when I got up I went and found my train and was off to Vienna. I knew there were trains
from Vienna to Prague that didnīt have to go through Slovakia or anywhere else. Then in Vienna I went across town to switch train stations and got on the train to Prague. Finally I arrived in Prague in the middle of the afternoon and I was very relieved and very tired. I went to bed early that night in preparations for a full day of sightseeing the next day.
Prague was also a very unique and very beautiful city. I decided to rent a bike to see the city since I didnīt have a lot of time to see it and I wanted to make sure I saw it all. So, I rented a bike and rode all over the city and had a great time. I managed to see everything and still have some left over time before my train was supposed to leave. So, I relaxed a little before heading to the station. When I got to the station the train going to Berlin was said to be leaving 30 mins. late. So I waited and eventually it ended up leaving almost an hour late. No big deal I just wouldnīt be getting in until really late. Well
for some reason the train took more than twice as long to get to Berlin as it was supposed to. So, we didnīt get in to Berlin until almost 3am. Now, I had a reservation but I was supposed to be there at 10pm. I called from the station and they said that they had given it to someone else since I hadnīt shown up within so many hours. So, originally on the train they had said that we would get hotel vouchers if we needed. So, I went to the desk to get one and they refused to give me one. I was not happy at all. They said since Berlin was my final destination and I hadnīt missed a connecting train that they couldnīt give me one. If I had been dis-honest and said that I had planned to catch one of the trains that was leaving they wouldnīt have been able to tell since my Eurorail pass can go on any train any time basically. So, I ended up just sitting in the train station until morning when I could go see the city.
When the sun came up and people started to file into the train
station for their Monday morning commute to work I got up, put my bags in a secure place, and went out on the town. I went on a free city tour which was really cool because I ended up spending basically no money in Berlin. At the end of the day I had another overnight train to Zurich. I reserved a bed on the train earlier in the day and when I got to the train I laid down and I was out.
I woke up the next day almost to Zurich. When we got there I locked up my bags and set out to see the city for a few hours. From the very begining I could tell that I was going to fall in love with Switzerland. I loved Zurich and from there I was supposed to be off to Interlaken. However, from there I took a train to Lucern and stopped off there for a couple of hours. That city too was amazing and the only bad thing was my bag broke while I was there walking around. I managed to somewhat fix it until I could get somewhere and buy a new one. From there I
took a train to Interlaken. When I got into town I found a place and crashed for the evening.
The next morning I decided to have an adventure. I signed up for a canyoning trip and away I went. It was amazing. It was a combination of repelling, rock climbing, and cliff jumping as we worked our way down a canyon of glacier melt-off water at about 1 mile up. I had the most amazing time and have awesome pictures that I bought to show all later.
Today I went to Schilthorn for an amazing view of most of Switzerland. Itīs a viewpoint at about 10,000 ft. with just an amazing 360 degree view of the Swiss alps. Tomorrow Iīm on the road again and Iīll try to write again soon.
