From Interlaken I took off for Bern where I walked around for a few hours. After that I hopped back on the train and was off to Geneva. I got to Geneva mid-afternoon and was able to walk around the city and see all the major sites before sundown. The next day I was off to Lyon and then to Nice. I got to Nice in the evening and took a walk on the boardwalk and watched the other people doing the same thing. The next day I spent wandering around the city in the morning. In the afternoon I went to the train station and found out that all the trains were full to Paris until the next night. So, I booked another night at the hotel and went to Monte Carlo for the evening. Monte Carlo was beautiful but I was sorta expecting a little more from everything I'd heard about it. (I expected the streets to be paved in gold.) I went to the casino there and got some pictures of really nice cars. 😊 After I walked around the city for a bit I decided to call it an early night and I went back to my
hotel.
The next morning I had hoped to be waking up on the train in Paris, but since that was full I woke up still in Nice. I asked the man at the front desk what he suggested I do for the day and he suggested the old city. So I set off for the old city and climbed the hill where the castle was and spent most of the day reading in a park in the old city. In the evening I caught my overnight train to Paris and went to sleep to wake up in Paris the next morning.
While I woke up in Paris I really was just passing through for now. I ended up being there in the train station for half the day until a free train to Amsterdam came about. Finally I went to Brussels where I switched trains and went on to Amsterdam. I got to Amsterdam in the evening and after checking in to a hostel I went out and explored a little. I ventured to the Red Light District to see what it was all about and was amazed at all the other tourists doing the same thing. There
weren't many people there for business, just window shopping I guess. The next day I rented a bike to see more of the city. I rode around and saw a lot of it n just the 4 hours I had the bike. Next I took a cheap tour boat ride through the canals which was very nice. After that I walked around the city more until night. A few people and I went to a pub to watch a soccer (football) match and I got carded when the drinking age is 16! For those of you who don't know me I'm quite a bit older than 16 but I guess I don't really look it. 😊
Next morning it was off to Paris for real. Got up bright and early and got my train to Paris, changing in Brussels along the way. I got to my hostel mid-afternoon but could not check-in until later. Luckily they had free internet that I used while I waited. After checking in and leaving my things I ventured over to Sacre Couer since it was close by. After that I went out and had a few drinks with some new people I'd met
in the hostel.
My first full day in Paris was beautiful weather. I walked all around the city and saw all of the "tourist sites" around the city. That took most of the day and I ended up back at the hostel around dinner time. I wandered up to the Sacre Couer again, this time for the night few. I had dinner nearby and then went back to the hostel.
The next day I was off to Versailles for the day. Not many words can describe that place other than it is enormous and it is beautiful. That's really all I did all day and I didn't even see it all.
My last day in Paris was for the Louvre. It wasn't actually even a full day, more like a half because I had a train to catch. On my way to the train station I got pick-pocketed Didn't lose too much luckily since I didn't keep most of my cash or anything in it but it was still a bummer. From there it was off to London.
I got to London late afternoon thanks to my lovely stay in the police station reporting my wallet
stolen. After I got checked in and such it was already dark but I decided to wander a little in the dark with another new friend.
My next two days in London both kinda blur together and I don't remember which was done on what day. Basically both consisted of wandering the city and seeing the sites. I got a bus tour somewhere in there and wandered around again at night to see everything I didn't see the first night.
My last day I didn't really do anything because I got up bright and early to get to the airport for my flight home. I was excited to get home and see my family and friends and get back into a normal routine again rather than a new city every other day. But, at the same time I was sad to go home since I had had such a great time this past 13 weeks or so.
