On the way to Gredos, a photo stop overlooking the walled city of Avila. This was just a brief photo/rest stop enroute to our destination. We didn't get to tour through the city, just gazed upon it from afar.

Overlooking Avila was this roadside memorial of sorts. I briefly entertained the thought that this cross was placed here to remember the victims of roadside accidents. However, I could be way off in my asessment of this marker.
