Warmer Water!
Beach at Cullera....sun tomorrow? We headed out this morning, in a rainstorm, hoping the roads weren't flooded as it had really poured all night...Lynn drove until Bill's stress level was more than evident, and she turned the wheel over to him....
At that point, we didn't realize we'd be lunching on fish and chips in an English seaside town.....
We stopped in Cartagena, to visit the amazing Roman Amphitheater Museum there....the ruins of the the theater (built at the end of the first century BC) weren't rediscovered until 1990! The Muslims had started to built over it, followed by the Christians, right up to the Civil War, when the area was heavily bombed.
After leaving Cartegena, we drove up the coast to Benidorm, the template for all over-the-top seaside resorts. Knowing this still did not prepare us for the sheer numbver of high rises by the sea....We parked, and had fish and chips on the beach, surrounded by Brits...!
After leaving England-on-the-Mediterranean, we drove to Cullera, and checked into our seaside hotel out on the point beyond the town...it is on a small bay with a soft white sand beach....and lots of shells! But, there's no one here tonight....restaurants are boarded
Cartagena
Roman ruins up, there are no lights on in giant apartment buildings, no one on the streets....luckily our hotel has a restaurant, or we would have had to drive into Cullera to find food!
We can hear the surf from our room tonight...and it's not raining!
Pre-wedding fun in Valencia tomorrow....

We have a dear friend who lives in Alfaz del Pie near Benidorm and we travelled by bus from Valencia to see her; she and her husband met the bus in Benidorm. I thought we\'d landed in Miami! Couldn\'t agree with you more about high rises on the sea. But we loved Valencia and Barcelona; you\'ve got some good times ahead! Best, Carol
