Horreos, used to keep animals away from the food, are the symbol of this historic village
Combarro village, considered as a National Monument. In Combarro the visitor has the feeling of walking through a sort of natural museum, where all the components that have shaped the Galician landscape are on display. Within a reduced space, the homes of fishermen and peasants, small boats and carts are harmoniously combined. Houses are erected on rock and copious hórreos (stone granaries in which to store corn) - from which some artists have derived their inspiration - can be seen mingled amidst its narrow streets, as suspended above the sea.

We were having a hard time deciding if we had the energy to do another day of sight seeing and at the last minute we decided that going to the small village of Combarro would be perfect. We didn't have much energy and were not expecting much. Little did we know, we would stumble across our favorite city/village/sight of the girls entire vacation. Combarro is so small, so unique, so old and so beautiful that we instantly fell in love with the place. Galicia (the region Vigo is in) is very proud of this historic village and it is easy to see why. The center of the city is a

Old crosses, churches and horreos are all throughout the village
big square with apartments overlooking it, horreos all over the place, a restaurant on the water, a nice port and great views of the sea/mountains/etc.

We walked around the village, stopping at every tourist shop to look at shot glasses for Sam, taste creme de cana and listen to Mom say how cute everything was......(more to come)
