I flew out to San Diego on the 24th and stayed the first night with Todd and Jordan in PB. The next morning I picked Dad up from the airport and drove to Rancho Santa Fe to play The Bridges Golf Course (home of Phil Mickelson). I remember being shocked to see the practice balls being Pro V1. We played with Greg and Greg Sr. Lil Greg and I ended up beating Dad and Mr. Nelson. It was a great course and a fun day. After we finished Dad and I headed to Rancho Bernardo Inn where we were staying for the next few days. We woke up the next morning and played golf with Dad and all is AA former co-workers. We played a course called Maderas. It also was freaking beautiful. Mattie met us ... read more

Castrelos Park is Vigo's biggest and nicest park that is filled with gardens, ponds, an old castle, museums and tons of other nice outdoor-sy things! Miriam had to study yesterday so I decided to tag along, catch my daily nap out in the sun and do some walking around for what I call "Todd Gill" photo ops! The park is beautiful and considered one of the nicest gardens in all of Spain come Autumn time. Mid afternoon around siesta time and after work the park is packed with young kids feeding the ducks and old Spanish people playing cards. To see the 80 year old plus men and women sitting around playing cards reminds me of something out of a movie. I was able to fake a pic of something else and catch a threesome heavy ... read more

Mondariz is a small village about 30 minutes inland from Vigo. Its population is only around 5,000 people and from what I saw I think that 4,900 of them are over the age of 80! As soon as I got to the place I could see why everyone refers to it as a "village." It is really small, really quaint and with the exception of its new hotel/spa, it is easy to see that everything there has probably been there for hundreds of years. I was only in Mondariz for a few hours, which was plenty. I started by seeing the hotel/spa and its surroundings. After I walked down to the river and strolled around the village's "river walk." Similar to Mondariz the river walk was very small but really nice. The village prides itself on ... read more

Combarro village, considered as a National Monument. In Combarro the visitor has the feeling of walking through a sort of natural museum, where all the components that have shaped the Galician landscape are on display. Within a reduced space, the homes of fishermen and peasants, small boats and carts are harmoniously combined. Houses are erected on rock and copious hórreos (stone granaries in which to store corn) - from which some artists have derived their inspiration - can be seen mingled amidst its narrow streets, as suspended above the sea. We were having a hard time deciding if we had the energy to do another day of sight seeing and at the last minute we decided that going to the small village of Combarro would be perfect. We didn't have much energy and were not expecting ... read more

We played Palencia last night who is one of the top teams in the league and really needed a win over us. We have been playing a little sub par as of late to so it was a must win for us. As usual we got a pretty good home crowd and jumped on them early. I had a real good first half hitting my first three, knocking down a buzzer beater from down town and then driving to the hoop for a lay up as time ran out at the end of the second quarter. It was good to get off to a quick start in front of Ma and Sam. Believe it or not I was a little nervous since they were there. Palencia ended up making it a good game but we were ... read more

Vigo - CajasurCord. 84-61 We won at home and I finally got on the board when it comes to a good shooting game. I had 15 points in 20 minutes. It was my best game of the year so far. It was a good win for us, in front of a good crowd! After the game Tim, Marco and I went to dinner at the girls basketball players house and started our night off there. A few drinks, followed by a night out on the town to celebrate our victory. Smitty got to drunk, threw up all over himself in 20, Agne had to take him home, we all went to Rare, Lara and I danced like idiots....again and then we slept all day Sunday! Normal routine but always a good time!!!... read more

The Celtic castro was the city's origin and Galicia's largest Roman necropolis. Vigo, with almost 300,000 inhabitants is the most populated city of Galicia and is placed on one of the most beautiful landscapes in the peninsula. Last night, Monday the 2nd, I walked to Castro Fortress which is the highest point in Vigo to watch the sun set. It was amazing. From there you can see the entire city and watch the sun fall right into the water directly in between 2 of the islands that are a part of the Cies Islands (home of the best beach in the world according the newsweek). It is only about a 15 minute walk from my house and something I will definitely do again when Mom and Sam come out in 3 weeks!!!... read more
