Arrived in a Spain after a slight delay in the flight, After taking the commuter rail from the airport to Sol, arrived at the Petit Palace Mayor. The hotel’s location was perfect for exploring Madrid and we had no issues while we were there. The first priority was to get some coffee. After an espresso, the first stop was to the office of tourism to pick up maps of Madrid. Next was walking around the city to hope to combat jet lag and to get acquainted with Madrid, both of these were successful.

A recurring theme is walking in Madrid. It was more fun to walk and look at the architecture and people than to take the subway to maybe save 5-10 minutes. First visit was to the beautiful Cibeles Fountain and the nearby Post Office. Both were beautiful and worth the walk. After walking near the Museums, headed back to the Plaza Mayor.

The rest of the evening was spent near the Plaza Mayor. A few of the highlights were:

- having tapas at the Market San Miguel . So flavorful and worth the price. One of my favorite places that we often visited while in Spain

- having a delicious beer at Cafekeek . Great beer list. Fun to people watch near the plaza.

The night ended by watching the Family Guy in Spanish aka Padre de Familia (Although the songs are still in English, is this common for translated shows?)
