Realised when I showered the other day on one of our free for the night aire camp sites that the hair dryer didn't work when I plugged it in. ha ha. Not surprising as we weren't hooked up.. so hairstyle has been a little je ne c'cest quoi for the last few days. Delighted today, after using our super motorhome shower (as not walking 1/4 mile to the campsite shower facilities) to actually be able to style my hair normally again using the hair dryer, now working. So all clean and ship shape again we walked along the promenade into the town. Sun out, long sleeve sweaters swapped for short sleeved t-shirts, fleeces left on the hook and what a lovely day for a stroll along the seafront. Getting as much Vitamin D as we can. ... read more

Forgot to mention yesterday that campsite is Camping la Masia. There is another campsite on the next road to the sea which is also open, cheaper and more basic but this suits us fine now while it is pretty empty. Wouldn't consider it in season. Quite expensive really considering all we have is a safe place to park, water and electric. Wifi is on top of that ($12 for 3 days, one device) and though there are toilets, rubbish and chemi loo disposal 100 yards away the nearest showers are more like 250 metres. We are therefore using the shower in the motorhome and assume 95% of the campsite residents must do the same. All other campsite facilities are not yet open.... restaurant, shop, pools.....not a problem but as I said, a bit pricey really. We ... read more

I'm writing this a day behind again but after such a lot of travelling needed to get a really good long sleep last night, the day we arrived in Spain from France. We had decided before we set off that we would need to use the autoroute to get to Spain as otherwise it would just take too long. Another gorgeous morning, this time woke to a view of the River Lot which was steaming as the bright sun warmed the cold water. It may be lovely during the day at the moment but drops to only just above freezing at night. We stopped at the boulangerie for our daily baguette and got on our way. Had to stop to fill the tank as we are are using rather a lot of diesel with all the ... read more

Last night's thunderstorms have cleared and it's now only slightly overcast. We set off for the Dali Museum in the town of Figueres, about a half hour's drive inland from Roses. As we round the first corner after leaving the apartment we stop dead in the middle of the road and stare at the scene in front of us. The hills are all covered in snow. I'm pretty sure we would have noticed this if it had been there yesterday, so it must have fallen overnight. It seems to have fallen down to quite a low level. It's cool but I didn't think it was all that cold, and anyway it's still summer here. We're mesmerised, and can't stop staring. But it seems that not everyone's quite as enthralled by the scene as we are .... ... read more

After getting the invite to stay at my sisters place in Llorrette De Mar, we went straight there, the thought of a proper bed was too much to delay. We took the ferry from port de torres to BARCELONA, a 13 hour journey, never to be done again. It was full of teenage children and we were tortured by some god awful music which was blasted out of the loud speaker, we were unable to move to another deck as Charlie had to stay on that level. We thought we were in the lap of luxury. However, we had to go to a scousers pub, called El Pub, those scousers sure know how to be original, to collect the keys. In between collecting the keys, and having a few pints, which took about 4 hours, we ... read more

We seem to have fixed our gas problem. After ringing our gas specialist in England (Danimal), and the fancily named 'European gaslow outlet', who was very good, we just filled up as usual, and the blockage has fixed itself. Back to 5 cups of tea a day again. The campsite at Riva Trigoso was really nice, and cheap, so we stayed 2 nights. The small town was entertaining, but the beach was black sand and a bit crap. The view from the bar area was outstanding, so we had to use it often HaHa. Next stop was Livorno, via the outskirts of Monaco and Montecarlo. These looked good from a distance, but for us were a photo opportunity and not a visit. The crossing from Livorno to Olbia, Sardinia, was a night crossing. Being tight for ... read more

Hola mi familia y amigos! This was quite a special weekend here in Barcelona becuase we were celebrating Nuria's birthday!! The girls and I planned her a few surprises to make her day special. On Friday we got all kinds of supplies together and when we came back home late, we decorated the whole living room for her to wake up to! She was very surprised and yes, they are still all up ;) Saturday was her actual birthday and after we had gone to visit Park Cuidatella (a few metro stops away and absolutely BEAUTIFUL gardens and blooming trees, not to mention the amazingly crafted small palace with DRAGON fountains...OH and a giant elephant!), we all went to work to make cards and search for the perfect gift! For dinner we had Gaspaxto soup and ... read more
