So I have just spent most of my time in Barcelona laying on the beach, perfecting my tan, going to HUGE disco clubs, and meeting tons of new friends!
I was only supposed to stay in Barcelona for 4 nights and ended up staying 8! Once I switched to the Sant Jordi hostel I met some great people and had such a good time! I met a couple more Irish girls Claire and Lorena, a really cool girl from Slovenia, and a few guys from Canada and Dubai. I couldn't decide what I was doing and the guys invited me to go to Ibiza with them. Ibiza is a party island famous for having clubs with famous DJ's and I really wanted to go but it is SOOOOO expensive there. Like 40-60 Euros just to get into the clubs, and drinks are really spendy too. So I decided at the last minute to skip out on it. I spent wayyyyyy too much money this trip. I budgeted ok, not great, but I didn't plan to replace 2 cameras and a phone out of that budget, not to mention the train ticket from zurich to paris. SO needless to say it came
to the point where I either have to go home or find a temporary job at a hostel or go home. And I am not ready to be home yet. I miss you all and I miss some comfort food from home, but I am still having way too much fun.
So since my Irish friends got jobs at the Pink Palace hostel in Corfu I thought I would give it a shot too! So I emailed them, reminded them of how cool I am and that my friends were working there and that I wanted to work there too. A few days later I got a reply that said come as soon as you can. So since I am kinda wasting the rest of my Eurail pass and I don't want to spend money on a flight I am spending 3 whole days traveling to get to greece by train and ferry. I left Barcelona on Monday at noon, and now I am only still in northern italy waiting for 7 hours at the train station to take a night train to brindisi then wait all day to take a overnight ferry to Corfu.
It's pretty rough traveling for
so long without a break. My first train out of barcelona was 20 minutes late and I had only 10 minutes to switch trains so I missed that train and it screwed up the whole plan. But I met some other travelers that it had screwed up as well, a couple of young guys from England and 2 cool girls from Holland. So we caught the subsequent trains together, played cards and got to know each other. The girls got off at Marseille and the guys left at Cannes and I continued on to Nice. SO I have been on about 8 trains in the last 24 hours and slept a bit with the other travelers in the train station. So yeah, I'm officially hard core.
But I am excited about greece. It should be fun, get to work where I can meet all sorts of people from all over the world. Plus my Irish friends are there working too! So it's worth all this sitting on trains waiting in stations and all that. Plus I have gotten so see a little bit of a few of the small towns I have stopped over in, and the view from the
train is great as long as we arent in a tunnel. I keep thinking awe, maybe I should ahve gone there or done that instead but I think about all the great people I have met and even traveled with and I honestly can say I wouldn't change a thing (except the loosing cameras bit!)
