Getting in at 7 am means no other people around to ruin your pics! After not sleeping on the 7 hour bus ride to Barcelona, I was exhausted by the time we got there and was wondering if it was worth it...but after a couple of hours on Saturday the adrenaline kicked in and the travelling was well worth it. The weather there was perfect, well in the high 20s. We started the day by just walking around town. You can tell its so much more of a tourist attraction though then Bilbao because there´s way more people there who speak English, so I don´t feel as completely lost 😊 Speaking of English people, who have thunk I´d run into someone I lived with in first year on Eng Floor while travelling in Spain!?! i heard my name and turned around in a busy street in Barcelona and there stood Alexis Maddaloni!!!! Apparently she´s travelling on a contiki (sp?) tour with her sis. What a small small world!
The rest of Saturday was spent mostly catching some rays on the beach. That was followed by some sangria in one of the pubs and then on the way back to the hostel (i was so looking forward to bed), we came across a televised "football"
Are we lost?
The boys (Emerson and Eduard) trying to find our way around game of Brazil vs Chile....and since I was with all Brazilians, how could I say no to that? Quite the intense experience! We were well outnumbered in the bar so we kept it low key when Brazil scored, resulting in them winning 6-1. Shanan, I can only imagine what it was like living with Brazilians last year during the world cup! I took a video of it in tribute to you 😉 So sleep finally came at 5am, which also resulted in us missing our checkout time...oops! So Sunday was a quick day. A little more walking around and then we saw the "sacred family" church. A quick trip back to the beach and we called it a day.
Made it back a-ok, but arrived back home to no propane. However I didn´t realize this until after I had a freezing cold shower....lovely. Ah well, its a good way to wake you up in the morning, thats for sure. The people at work though showed me where I could shower there if it ever happened again though 😊 I´m really liking the people I work with. Wishing I could communicate with them a little more, but they´re wonderful all
CANADA ROCKS!!!
what a small world...I went to school with Alexis and i run into her in Spain! the same. I have to say, the works not quite what I was expecting. Its turning out to be pretty routine. More like the same kind of analysis everyday, just on different types of cement. I think I was expecting a more engineering aspect to it. LIke, being out in the facotry, fixing things, if a machine wasn´t working or resutls weren´t as expected coming up with reasons why and how to fix it. I thought I´d be working more with the reactors and what not, but its more like an everyday step by step lab....except the lab manuals in Spanish to add some extra little spice to it. No matter what I´m doing though, I´m loving everyday here so far!
I think this weekend might have a trip to Pamplona in store for us....you know where the bulls run through the street and all the crazies run through the street in front of them....yup, I think I´ll pass on that part.
Hasta luego!
P.S. I promise some pictures will come eventually....I tried uploading them on the computer at the internet cafe place, but it didn´t work and I couldn´t follow the Spanish intructions. I´ll have to
La playa
On the way to the beach wait and get one of my friends here with me to do it for me. But when they come, I´m sure it will have been well worth the wait!

Living Vicariously Through Your Travels
Hello Megan, So gald to hear you had an adventurous weekend. I actually watched some footage of the running of the bulls in Pamplona a couple of weeks ago and they said that the injuries were very small in numbers and seriousness this year, but I agree with you, I'm not that fast of a runner so would never dream of doing such a crazy thing. It is a small world, bumping into someone you know like that, how wonderful is that. Give your work stuff a chance, you never know by the end of the month you may be doing more problem solving. Take care. Lots of love and hugs and kisses. Auntie Consuelo
