This morning I woke up early enough to be vaguely awake when Christine came with tea. I decided to head down straight away, and actually make it to breakfast on time! It was then time for our last lesson... We covered the rest of the past tenses, which was quite good fun to make up stories to connect and differentiate the tenses! At one point, we were talking about a fictional person who broke their leg falling down the stairs. There are four different ways of combining the two verbs, two of which were hilarious... While breaking their leg, they walked down the stairs - the plot of a gore film? The other was 'she used to break her leg when going down the stairs', as though its a habit she has...
Midway through the lesson, we were invaded by the girls. They were all dressed up for a trip into Santander, for a fiesta. Raquel was wearing the traditional outfit from Madrid (it was a Madrilene fiesta), and Victoria was in an Andalucían outfit, complete with mini heels! They both looked so pretty... What made it very funny though, was that they were singing a chant that was something along the lines of "Atletí, Atletí, Atletí de Madrid", which is the football team Fernando supports. They had a match today - I've since found out that they drew, but had enough points to win the league (don't quote me on that though!). Anyway, they headed off, and we finished for lunch, which for once was quiet and peaceful!! No girls demanding we sit here, there or wherever....
Lunch was delicious, meatballs and spaghetti which I never used to like, but really enjoyed. Just as we finished up, Will and Rosemary arrived. II'm not sure if I've introduced them before, but I met Will a few days ago. They are both from Edinburgh, and have lived here for the last 10 years renovating a house. After a short discussion, they invited me to spend the afternoon/evening with them. This was far nicer than the alternative - either staying in the house alone, or going into Santander and watching the football.
They were on their way to the shops, so I got a brief tour round the Tescos, Lidl and Coops of Spain - Lidl is actually here... I also got a brief lesson in wine, when Will showed me the wine aisle and pointed out the OK, good and amazing wines. In Carrefour, he even bought a bottle of very good white wine - Viña Esmeralda - for the evening. We headed back to their house, which I was given a tour round. I loved it! They had finished two apartments, for hiring out, and were working slowly on their own part of the house. I am going to suggest it to my parents for our next family holiday (I'm inviting myself along, they will not come without me!), because I love the house and the area so much. Oh, and the house was originally a shop/bar, called Santa'Ana, hence the blog name. It looks out onto a convent, which is an incredible building...
Anyway, we talked a lot, and I discovered they have both spent a lot of time on Skye, with friends who live in Broadford. It was lovely to be able to talk about Skye, and Scotland and not have to explain myself. It did make me miss home though. I can't wait to go back to Skye - this time next week I will have set off on the road home.
We realised it was getting late, if I was to be back for dinner, so Rosemary drove me back up the road. Dinner was very nice, then I came upstairs to write this, though inevitably took much longer than I planned... I'm now signing off, because I am very tired and need to sleep!
