Arrived in Madrid after a delayed flight. We surprised ourselves and saved 30 euro by getting ourselves from the airport to the hostel. It was so hot when we arrived and soon found ourselves getting into the Spanish siesta routine. We stayed in a busabout hostel in the red light district of Gran Via (it was not bad at all). On our first day we navigated with our map around the city and looked like real tourists. We found the Royal Palace (Palacio Real) what a beautiful place, the rooms where amazing and all had exquisit touches, if only I was a princess. Outside the place is the Cathedral de nuetra senora de la almudena which was nice on the inside and shabby on the outside. We then walked to the Plaza Mayor the oldest quater of the city with buildings dating back to the 15th and 16th century. We had our first experience of tapas which we found difficult to order but tasty, we also had our first sangria. We went on a mission the next day to find an Egyptian Temple moved to Spain brick by brick, it wasn't what I expected but good to see because it was
Plaza Mayor (Madrid)
The oldest quater of the city. Experienced first tapas here. free. After that it was time to have a rest so we headed to the park (Parque del bern Retiro) it was nice and also had nice buildings inside. Back at the hostel that night we meet a bunch of Kiwis and Ozzies who were going to the Crowded House concert what a great night it was we got an awesome spot in the open air theater It was a great way to spend our last night in Madrid. We got on the bus to get to San Sabatsian the next morning ride was good and on the way we had a special stop in Burgos for one hour.
Burgos a pilgram village was amazing place to see it had a Cathedral decribed as a gothic gem, we paid to go inside which was well worth it.
Arriving in San Sabatian the Basque countries most stylish city was great I was so happy to see some surf and sand, even better when I found out there where 3 beaches. We made our way straight into the old town to discover the bars. Yum!!! Pintxo bars streached out for as far as my eyes could see. Once we got
the hang of ording we enjoyed devouring all the tapas we could get our hands on.
