Singapore We arrived in Singapore late and made our way to Mt Emily guest house. The first night all 5 of us crammed into one small room, it was fun! We enjoyed shopping down Orchard Road and I was so stocked to find all the London shops that I love. Mum and Dad introduced us to Moss Burger a place that does yummy variations of burgers including a salad burger and a rice burger. We all enjoyed it and thought it would do really well in New Zealand. It been so handy having Scott living in Singapore because he knows all the good places to eat at good prices. We all really enjoyed eating out at Newton which was an outdoor space full of different eateries and you get to have a try of many. Once ... read more

Wow we finally meet again! We are all so happy to be together again after 20 months! Day trip to Kuantan was cool we went on the local bus saving heaps of money. Spent the day shopping in town then headed back on the local bus. We waited for half an hour for the bus back and it didn’t come so Scott decided to go ask a taxi driver how much it would cost. Two minutes after he left the bus came and we all hoped on hopping we would be able to see Scott on the way. At the traffic lights we saw him and started yelling at him to run. He looked up and it was like a slow motion movie as he jumped fences and swerved though traffic to catch our now moving ... read more

Marinated snake and scorpion vodka any one? Or choose from the many fish swimming around in buckets in the local market? The market is fascinating and so colourful with flowers, masks, food and people driving down the lanes on their motorbikes. One lady allowed us to try her Vietnamese basket and hat if we brought some pineapple for 50.000 dong. It was fun but I wouldn’t quit my day job! We chose to stay in the old town with its labyrinthine streets and allies which are too small for cars. The area is bustling with activity and it was nice to sit and watch or wonder around, we ended up staying a total for four nights which was more than enough. Our accommodation had everything we needed and was for 16 US a night, which was ... read more

Majestic and mysterious is a great way to describe the impressive scenery in Halong Bay We opted for a tour to take us to this incredible place, we were glad to pay a bit more for one that we got recommended. On the first day we had a four hour drive to Halong City where we boarded a boat taking us cruising through over 2000 lime stone islands. We stopped for a huge lunch including amazing fresh seafood that even Dale was keen to try, and I’m happy to say he enjoyed! We spent an hour and half kayaking through hidden caves and searching for monkeys but not see any. After kayaking we enjoyed jumping off the boat into the warm water, the water was so salty that Dale was finally able to float. We then ... read more

Hoi An definatly has charm about it, as soon as I got here I fell in Love with the historical old town. Hoi An is a beautiful small town with so, so many tailors and a French look about it. We have also noticed more of a Chinese influence now were heading further North. We have enjoyed walking around the small town, especially in the old town as motorbikes are banned, so it’s relaxing walking around knowing you’re not going to be run over. We were going to hire bikes for a day but out of the old town we witnessed a bike crash and decided not to risk it. I have been really impressed with all the art galleries around the old town and I can’t help but think it would be nice to own ... read more

Na Trang is a lot bigger than Mui Ne and seemed like there was more to do and more locals to hassle us. Although not sure if were used to it now but the hassling doesn’t seem as bad. We have had 5 relaxing days lying on the beach, chilling out and going on a boat trip out to the Islands. Most mornings I have been able to run along the beach without being chased by any small dogs, to my relief. One morning I was like a sports star, surrounded by old women watching me do my stretches, one lady even touched my arm and made a face at me. (Of course I had a mix of sweat and sun block causing my arm to be shiny and sticky). The boat trip was really fun ... read more

Mui Ne Was such a lovely place we spent four nights relaxing and taking small day trips to exciting places around the small town. Mui Ne has its own micro climate so we enjoyed good weather every day. One of the highlights was hiring a motorbike for a day and driving along the coast, it was beautiful we also made it to the giant sand dunes something Mui Ne is famous for. Little kids on the side of the road were trying to give us plastic boards to slide down but we refused, one little girl was so cute and we had a conversation then she helped me put on my helmet. She had really good English but didn’t attend school. We enjoyed swimming in the beach which had some nice waves, and in our guest ... read more

We made it here easily the board crossing was not a fuss although I was freaking out because I left one of my bags on the bus and everyone else brought theirs with them. If I wasn’t going to get in trouble I was scared that someone was going to plant drugs in my bag and say "whose bag is this". Think I’ve been watching too many scary movies either way I’ll never leave my bag again. "Where are all the tuk tuks?" Is the first thing I say before we even get off the bus. Although I was sick of all the tuk tuk drivers offering us a ride in Cambodia I still view them as an excellent way to get around the city. Now we have to resort to taxis or motorbikes, I’ll gladly ... read more

Phnom Penh We made our way to the Royal palace especially to see the Silver Pagoda which is a floor covered with over 5000 silver tiles weighing 1kg each. The funny thing was we walked around the Royal Palace in and out of the different areas only to question a bit later which room was the Silver Pagoda. We worked out that half the floor was covered by carpets to protect the silver so we didn’t even notice we were standing on silver floor tiles. We have been doing a lot of walking around the city passing street stalls selling fried bugs and crickets, babies being driven around by their parents on motorbikes. There are Cyclos which are like wheel chairs with bikes behind them skinny men peddling as fast as they can through chaotic traffic. ... read more

We made it quite quickly through the boader with help and clear instructions of what to do and what not to say. Found a nice place to stay with a swimming pool for 7 pound per night, cheap as. Went for a walk to the old market today which stank to high heaven I guess it didnt help that there were dried fish and what looked like octopus hanging up. We decided to make our way to Bar Street and get ourselves a fruit smoothie which was amazing. I was so excited to see a fish massage paddling pool on the main street and decided to give it a go, it tickled so much having the little fish eat all the dead skin off my feet. Later in the day we made it back to Bar ... read more
