I left at 11am on my last trip this semester. We flew from Dublin to Barcelona and spent the night night in the city. We found a little restaurant and ordered Tapas and Sangria. The best way to explain what tapas are is just an appetizer. I got rolls with pork in them and potatoes with spicy sauce. On the other hand, Sangria is mad up of Wine, cub soda, and fruit. It tastes so good. We then headed back to the airport. Reed had bought the plane tickets and decided that it was a good idea to have a layover through the night. Everyone attempted to sleep on the cold, hard ground in the Barcelona Airport. I, personally, didn't get any sleep. We then flew to Sevilla, Spain. We caught a bus to Lagos, Portugal for your prepaid getaway. The first day, we checked into our beautiful hotel with a pool and balconies. It was so beautiful. The first thing after that was a Sailboat Ride along the coast with unlimited Sangria. We got to explore little caves in a smaller motor boat. After that the sailboat stopped and we got to jump off of it into the ocean. That

Sara and Sammi was the first time I have ever been fully immersed into the ocean and it felt great! Then we went and got to see the "end of the earth". Before America was discovered, many people believed that this was the edge of the world. It was very pretty and very windy. We could barely get pictures because our hair was flying everywhere. We then headed into downtown Lagos. The town was so quaint and not big at all. There was a market going on in the main square. Sara, Leanna, and I decided to go check it out. It was very interesting. There were belly dancers and so many stand of homemade crafts. I bought a leather wallet that was stamped with the words "Lagos" and had a rooster on it. I also bought some homemade soap. We got to hear a band made up of pipers and drums. I had never seen pipes like that before. They sounded like bagpipes but the pipes we saw were shaped very differently. near the band was a stand with meat. The man let us try a piece. It was kind of gross and I had never tried anything like that before. We
have come to the conclusion that it must have been horse and been cured meat. So we tried a stand nearby with meat in pastries and it was so good and cheap. We still are not sure what it was because it was in Portuguese but it was defiantly worth the 2.50 euro. Then the program we were doing gave us free drinks at a bar in town that night. We went and drank them, but we were so exhausted from not getting any sleep the night before, so we headed back to the hotel to sleep.
The next day, we had a day at the beach. It was kind of chilly and windy all day. By the time we left, our bodies were caked with sand. We played a few rounds of beach volleyball, but apparently no one in our group knows how to play volleyball. It was the slowest and most horribly played game of volleyball I have ever participated in. This beach was probably the lowest point of the trip just because it didn't even compare to the other things we got to do. This night, we got free drinks at a bar again. I did

Me, Sara, and Sammi my first tequila shot ever and actually really liked it. At midnight, Sammi's friend, Taylor, turned 21. So everyone was in a really good mood and we had a great night to make up for the beach earlier in the day.
Our last day in Portugal, we decided to go Kayaking on the coast. It was a little windy, but that almost made it more fun. Leanna and I shared a kayak and it felt like we were professional Kayaker's when we went through the waves and water ran over the top of the boat. I had never gone kayaking before and I think this trip really set my standards high. In the kayak's we could get into tiny caves that normal boats would never be able to get into. The rock formations are stunning and the kayaking was my favorite thing I did all weekend. After kayaking, we headed to town and ate at a little cafe to finish off our last day in Portugal. We then got on the bus for a 3 hour drive back to Sevilla.
We stayed at the Seville Inn-Backpackers. It was really cool. They have furniture on the roof and is

Leanna, Sammi, and Katherine very clean and friendly. I would recommend it to anyone. On the first day in Spain, we went to the government offices because part of Star Wars: Episode 1 was filmed there. I need to re-watch the movie so that I can find it. There was so much ceramic that was hand painted and it was just everywhere. I cannot even imagine doing something like that. Apparently, Ceramic paintings and mosaics are usually aligned with the Spanish Culture. We walked in the Garden's around the Offices. There were so many birds and the flowers were so pretty. After the Garden's, we got some lunch at a restaurant with 100 types of sandwiches. It was cheap and very good food. They even had dessert sandwiches. They had a really good drink called Tinto de Verano which is very similar to Sangria, but they sold it for 1 euro a jug. After lunch, we headed to the Alcazar Palace. This building was so amazing. Everything was so intricate. The garden's behind it were huge and so beautiful. Right across the street was the Sevilla Cathedral. It is an unbelievably large building. Also, the tomb of Christopher Columbus is inside the Church. We
then headed back to the hostel to take a quick break. For dinner, Tom had figured out a plan. We went to go get Snails because Sevilla is known for them. I personally just got tapas cause the snails were gross. One of my tapas was my favorite I had tried while in Spain. It was Espinca de Garbonza. It was filling and tasted great. I got really full from the tapas and decided to go back to the hostel rather than go to another restaurant. To finish off the night, I sat on the roof with friends and enjoyed some free Sangria from the Hostel. I fell right asleep after because the day had been so long and exhausting.
My last day of the trip was spent in Sevilla's shopping district with Leanna. There are buildings down there that look like mushrooms and hang over the street. They were really unique buildings. I love the Spanish fashion and picked up a few clothes that I really liked. We spent the day exploring the city and talking to locals. It was a very relaxing and good way to finish off my last trip. We caught a plane at 9pm
to Dublin and didn't get home until 4 am. All in all, this was my most favorite trip because of the sun, language, and culture. I am now ready to knock out my finals and come home to everyone.
