Our Night in Jail!

One last stop in Eastern Europe.... Ljubljana, Slovenia. Yeah, we can´t pronounce it either! We took the scenic train ride in from Croatia and were greeted with our first big rain storm of the trip. It is always nice to get use out of the ponchos we brought! We quickly found our hostel, which happened to be an old prison, converted into a hostel. Interesting concept, but it seemed OK, so we stayed! I guess it makes sense, but we didn´t realize our room would be an actual prison CELL! Yep, there was a heavy barred door and then another thick metal door we had to unlock to get in. It was pretty funny! The room was for sure the oddest place we´ve ever stayed. One tiny little window and a rock/ brick floor. But we can say it was very safe... no one was getting in there. Two bunk beds were up on each side, a chair, a fan and that was it! I guess you just never know where you might find yourself!

In Ljubljana we got out and saw the river and a bit of the city. Andy also was feeling adventurous and so got his hair cut at a local salon. I guess "just buzz it" translates into every language as it turned out OK. Our time there was short as we flew out the next morning to head back to Spain. We loved our time backpacking through Eastern Europe. Each stop intrigued us as we discovered some pretty interesting and beautiful places full of culture, good food, and friendly people.

Celebrity walk on in Slovania!
This was the smallest plane we´ve been on. A whole 14 people were on here! Including the pilot who apparently had the plane on auto pilot and sat in the cabin of the plane for a nice chunk of the flight.
