Clouds in the morning
The don't ascend till they've
had their coffee.. If you see me walking around and saying " In a hundred years from now it won't make a difference" you know Im not in my calmest mood. This mantra for some reason keeps me calm when I am dealing with high pressure situations which seems to be more often then not.
As you can see from our pictures, we are just in nirvana and stress is the farthest thing from my mind. Four little houses, great views, amazing weather that ranges from warm to rainy ( a great change from the middle east heat). Paraglider's sailing over the mountain crest and mornings with the sun shining telling us its time to wake up.
We try and do at least one hike a day. Today we decided that we would take a ride to a gorge and then take a hike to see some world war 1 memorial. In Slovenia there's a lot of talk about world war one. One would think that they would be obsessing about their Freedom from Yugoslavia (I think) in 1990 but It doesn't seem to faze them at all.
The gorge had beautiful clear water, I was looking for some fish
Nebesa
one man , one vision, one amazing vacation but couldn't find any so after about an hour we decided it was time to go to the war memorial Javorca which is located high above some mountain and across from another mountain that imploded in the last earthquake.
Scenic it was and my MANTRA was being said non stop! The road to Javorca was- just barely wide enough for our small car and let me emphasize that to the citizens of Slovenia it is obvious that it's a two way street, and it is a two way street. but take note that this road has a drop of at least a 1000 meters. no railings, no asphalt just dirt, beauty and one slip of the gas peddle and thats the end of this story.. but who will know or care in a 100 years.
The memorial was interesting, Jeff enjoyed filming the cows but I personally found the story of an Old women named Mitsy, who lived all alone just above the memorial was left with a house in rubble after boulders destroyed it during the earthquake of 2003. Our hosts at Nebesa (the place where we're staying) said they found her sweeping the dirt of her
Our house
in the middle of the alps destroyed house just after the earthquake explaining to our host that "everything has to look neat when they come to help" .
The day ended with a great salami sandwich and me hanging my laundry in the alps! I felt like Julie Andrews about to break out in song "the hills are alive with our laundry" .. why doesn't that ever happen to me at home?
tomorrow a day of water rafting in the soca river.
