On its way from Austria to Hungary, the Danube cuts across the corner of Slovakia passing through the capital, Bratislava which strangely is positioned on the national border in the west of the Country.
We found a camp site in the city and went into the centre on an antiquated tram. The interesting historic part is quite small, close to the Danube and completely surrounded by modern development much of which was completed in the Communist era. The tourist office was very forthcoming with useful information and we had a very pleasant walk around in the early evening sunshine.
