Every year for children's day cities and villages do magical forest. It's sometimes a walk through a forest, sometimes it's a challenge course, sometimes it's a combination. Of course, you have magical creatures that meet you along the way. Janka and Risko went with us. Julia almost fell asleep on the drive there - we went to Kraliky which is a ski resort in the winter. But she didn't sleep, and I was glad because I needed her to be tired so she goes to bed at a normal time. Now I know that this really doesn't work. We get to the starting point and there are two clowns - apparently Julia is not fond of clowns and I have to carry her through the entrance. After that she was fine. Since Julia was sick, the next day we spent just hanging around the house. Grandpa took her outside for a couple of hours and she made some friends, but coulent remember their names. She loved "piesok" - the sand - and kept talking about it all day. Her naps don't go like I would like and she didn't take one. I went to Hawaii pub with my brother and his friends. This only lasted 2 hours, we gave her anti nausea meds and soon introduced fluids and she was fine. She slept on and off the whole day. I went to Ohnivko with Monika and Janka and had three small beers and came home. I also found out that Monika and Miso are engaged. Thanks Monika my friend ... read more

And so we went onwards to Banská Bystrica (that's pronounced "bun-scar bis-trit-sa"), which along with nearby Zvolen make the two main cities in central Slovakia. We found some creepy little guesthouse which satisfied both of our goth sides quite well, very small and nostalgic, but also very noisy as the walls were probably made from a sheet of cardboard, so you could properly hear everything bumping around. We went for more amazing cheap pizza on the town square on wednesday night and were entertained by a cool little band playing some covers and some songs in slovak (including some translated cover versions!) There was something incredibly eerie about the clocktower, at five to every hour it would chime a new tune on a huge music box, giving the whole place a bit of a fairy tale ... read more
