*My initial intention was to write blogs this summer as I had in the past, but honestly, ain't nobody got time for that. So while I've uploaded pictures from each place, I've written very little to go along with it this time. For most of you looking, that should be a welcome relief. This is the first in the summer series and I will publish them all today, though this is the only one I will publish with emails that come along with it. There was a sleepy Sunday morning feel as we approached the ground at FK Zeleznicar – the railwayman. The ground had obviously been developed from old railway yards, although part of the original complex now seemed to have been taken over by a coach park. The transport theme continued under the “stand”, where a rusting car laid in a state of decay. The ground consisted of one side of terracing with the dugouts being opposite. A cinder training pitch lay beyond. The weeds in the dugouts and the state of the goals on the training pitch suggested a lack of practice at set pieces in the recent past. New country! New red shape on the map! I definitely did not know what region Belgrade was in (the blog required me to pick a region rather than a city), so I guessed until I found Belgrade. Apparently it's west. So keep that in your pocket, because someday you'll need that information. Anyway, Belgrade. We made it! We almost didn't make it again. So on Friday Darcy and I made delicious food, drank a bunch of wine, and went back to the bus stop, determined to get on the first bus that said Belgrade or Beograd or something that seemed like Serbia. 11:00 came and went. And no bus. So we waited. And waited. At 11:45 we met a Serbian, which made us feel better. At 12:15 we met another Serbian, which made everyone feel better. ... read more

Hello my fellow travellers! After another great night's sleep at Nikola's place the two of us headed out together because he had to go to work today, Alex left us yesterday so it was just the two of us. I was planning on visiting the Museum of Yugoslavian History with the House of Flowers and then just spend the rest of the day walking around the pedestrian areas of Belgrade, trying to find something nice for Lisa. I liked the museum quite a lot, especially the House of Flowers where Tito is buried. It was a calm and serene place, very beautiful. The museum was also very nice with friendly guards, good information and a great layout/planning. I ended up spending quite some hours here, enjoying the various artefacts on display. First entry...of another trip! I know, life can be like a Russian doll...let's see if I can put a trip into a trip...into another trip...so far, it looks like it's going the right way....or the Russian doll way! More about Russia...way later... Leslie and Tiffany are for the next two weeks with their grandparents in Luxembourg. And, they are having all day French classes for two weeks in a row. As they say...hey Papa, these are not holidays!
