What in the hell time is it anyways??
Apparently, the Trans Siberian Railway runs on Moscow time, but depending where you are on the route, it can be Moscow time plus (up to) another seven hours.
Confusing? Damn right.

Another great blog that really gives across the feel of the places you travelled through. About Russians not smiling - it was one of the first things I noticed and one of the most unpleasant things for me during my first year in Russia. But I think it's just that Russians show their genuine emotions more - therefore no one smiles while tramping through muddy streets in -30C and old women working 16 hour shifts in shops for little pay feel well within their rights to shout at you! But on the other hand, as you noticed, it's quite easy to get past this if you actually Russians them socially where smiles, hospitality, presents and hugs are more forthcoming than in many other countries, and you know they're really heartfelt
