Madrid!
Kim had limited clean clothes so wore her pjs. Here she is having a sleep with stat-u-bro..From San Sebastian we caught an overnight train into Madrid (got about 2hrs sleep). We spent a day there. It wasnt actually in our intial plans but it was the only way to get to Portugal on our railpass. We put our bags in lockup and trained into town where we walked around the city (Kim wore her pyjama pants all day due to no clean washing!) We visited the national museum of art. It was so massive we really needed 2days to look around! But really amazing museum I definately recommend! Also visited botanic gardens (where most of the plants were dead being soo hot!). Got back to the station looking forward to sleeping in a bed on overnight train to Lisbon but when we got into the train they had booked us seats instead! So after two sleepless nights we arrived rather frazzled into Lisbon where we caught another train to Cascais up the coast. We chose Cascais off the map because it looked like it was right on the beach, hadnt heard anything about it! The train there ran right along the coast it was soo beautiful!! Enjoyed looking around the town and stayed at Beach hostel. Spent
about 5 nights there! One day Kim and i were supposed to go on a bike ride but she was too hungover so I went by myself. Cycled down the path by the beach for an hour getting lots off angry looks when i got stopped by teens saying youŕe not allowed to ride bikes by the beach. Doh! So had to walk the bike back and found the cycle lane that takes you right along the coastline from Cascais marina through three other towns. Def highlight of the trip though my ass hurt for days after that! We also had a big night out starting in our room Kim drunk Beer and i had Sangria then headed out, but the town wasnt even busy being a sunday night! We found one of the only bars playing music and headed in. After a few vodkas and red bulls kim hailed in a guy off the street who was sitting looking a bit bored, shouting and waving at him to come in the bar! Thankfully he wasnt a psycho, actually a real nice cameraman called Santi from Barcelona. Hardly spoke a word of english, so we had the bartender translating for
us! The Bartender in turn (after alot of conversation) offered me a job in the bar, I said I keep it in mind! Kim at this stage was looking green around the gills. I had to excuse us from the table and take her to the toilet (just in time) before she yacked.. You think she give up but NO! (I stopped drinking at this stage to keep an eye on her!) She then left me with our two new mates and went and talked to a table of russians. We ended up going to another bar but one of the russians (a doctor) was abit hands on with kim so I decided it was home time! Got her home but she didnt quite make the toilet the second time... :p
After Cascais, on other peoples recommendations we booked into the "Rising Cock" hostel in Lagos! Party hostel well known throughout Portugal! And party we did. As soon as we arrived we met a kiwi guy working there who was stoked there were 2 extra people to make up "team kiwi". Two kiwi guys worked there actually and Evan who we met in San Seb. was staying there too. Stayed

Nah just Kim.. in room with 2 other gals from Oregan. Everyone would meet in the common room round dinner for dinner and drinks then at 11pm we would all head to the closest bar "Three Monkeys" and "Inside out". Much fun was had but after two big nights out in a row our last night was spent with a few others needing some R&R, we watched 28days (horror) and headed to bed for our next destination, Valencia!
I can honestly say Portugal has been my fav stop so far, beautiful beaches, cobble roads, rustic houses, boats, sunshine and lots of fun! x J
