Since the last blog Aaron and I have been on sensory overload! We have seen so much beautiful scenery that we have just been completely and utterly exhausted from it all... that and Norweigens seriously know how to party... Especially little Miss Ane Straume.
Wednesday we woke up at a ridiculous hour and took a drive to a place called Prekestolen for a five hour hike up a mountain. It was well worth it though as when we got to the top we realised we were standing on a cliff 200metres high, overlooking an amazing fiord. We had a great little lunch at the top watching all the crazy people try and get as close to the edge as they possibly could. On the way back down Ane and Aaron decided to go for a dip in the coldest water I think he has ever been in. The look on their faces when they hit the water was priceless....
On thursday we started the 10 hour drive to Ane's home town, Molde. On the way we got to see some of the most amazing scenery I think we have ever seen. We took a tourist ferry on one of
Amazing Rapids
Norways very own Huka Falls the most famous fiords in Norway. The fiord has a couple of farms on its edge and when I say on its edge I literally mean on its edge. There is a story about one of the farms which sits at the top of a very steep cliff, the story goes that the people that lived in this house used to tie their children to ropes to stop them falling off the cliff.
The next breathtaking stop was Trollstigen (trolls ladder) a road that literally carves its way like a ladder down a mountain. What was so intense about this part of the trip was that it literally took us half an hour to be in the mountains where we could touch snow to then being at the seaside, where it was so hot all we wanted to do was be in singlets and shorts.
In Molde we were lucky enough to see one of the most famous bands in Norway called De Diarre, we didnt understand a word of the music, but it was still thouroughly enjoyable. The following day was so hot that we went for a swim at one of the make shift beaches in Molde,
it was so nice and relaxing and then went home to Ane's mums amazing Tandoori chicken. On our last day in Molde we went for drive along the great Atlantic road which was amazing, followed by going to our very first European football game thanks to Mark/Ane's hook ups. It was awesome.
Monday meant leaving Mark and Ane to make our way back to Bergen to catch our flight to Greece. It was an amazing train journey (14 hrs) all the way to Oslo then back to the other coast for Bergen. We only had a few hours in the apartment before catching the Airport bus for our flight. We say good bye to Norway and hello to Greece, what awaits us next?
Thanks Mark and Ane we had an amazing time.
