Well it was our last full day in Norway and we tried to get the most out of it but like normally on your last day we ended up packing which seemed to take up most of the day, which is weird as I never unpacked in our Cell Block H. I just left my suitcase under the bed still full as no space in the wardrobe. We went to the briefing on what you need to do to leave the ship so all well on the western front. We had booked on a tour of the Marble Mines starting late afternoon so that was exciting and part of the trip was to go on the Atlantic Ocean Road. This road, only 5.2 miles long, took 6 years to build during which time it was hit ... read more

The hotel we are staying in (Scandic Nidelven) has won many awards for having the best breakfast in Norway. I can understand why! I think this is the best breakfast buffet I have ever seen! To be honest, I wish my stomach let me eat more at breakfast, as I just did not do this spread justice! I managed to have a freshly squeezed vegetable (green) juice, a really good coffee (rare!), homemade muesli which i added fruit, nuts and seeds to and a juice 'shot' that contained ginger. I also made myself a ham and cheese rolls for my lunch. We checked out of the hotel at 9 and made our way to the port as we were boarding the MS Finnmarken (of the Hurtigruten line) for an overnight stay, whilst we sailed to Bergen. ... read more

... read more

Andalsnes to Molde to Kristiansund (along Atlantic Road) to Trondheim 16 & 17 June 2014 After the exhilaration of the Troll Ladder in the morning, we ventured onto Molde following the Romsdals Fjord. The road included one car ferry crossing and a couple of bridges, certainly 2 features that we have become acostomed to whilst driving through Norway. Again, it was beautiful scenery, craggy mountains mixed with farming. The day remained dry with cloud cover. We arrived in Molde, the "City of Roses". We found the Rose Garden on the roof of the Town Hall but it was the season for only a few flowers. We found a park on the waters-edge and saw the Molde cathedral, which was consecrated in 1957. It has a double-nave long church in the Gothic style. A 50 metre high ... read more

Da begynner ting å bli klart i heimen.

Since the last blog Aaron and I have been on sensory overload! We have seen so much beautiful scenery that we have just been completely and utterly exhausted from it all... that and Norweigens seriously know how to party... Especially little Miss Ane Straume. Wednesday we woke up at a ridiculous hour and took a drive to a place called Prekestolen for a five hour hike up a mountain. It was well worth it though as when we got to the top we realised we were standing on a cliff 200metres high, overlooking an amazing fiord. We had a great little lunch at the top watching all the crazy people try and get as close to the edge as they possibly could. On the way back down Ane and Aaron decided to go for a dip ... read more

Wanted to start early when before 8 am snow storm came. Called my friend, he said we going, so with some delay I arrive and no snow at the meeting point nor further as we go SW. Turned to be nice day and very nice mountain range by full name Julsundet Grunneigarlag Sitt Omrade. Different from my dream mountains, bigger forests on the way up. Main goal was to reach Julaksla peak 556 m, but by map should been another higher mountain Starheta, may be 575m? not sure again.. When i registered on the peak in the journal, there was no name in it of the mountain. Also, on the way to Julaksla was another peak Vardfjellat 470 m. Few times we would lose the trail and find it again. snow was holding well. Always windy ... read more

Onder het motto 'boys will be ... read more
