Cabin by Blooming Tree
Its cosy, the only one and has all the amenities of home ....except for the walk to the WC Camping Heiderust was an excellent find. Have only been here half a day and am already loving it. Will be here for two weeks. There are people with trailers and tents, cars and satellites, bikes and mopeds, kids and pets. The place is fully booked. Am happy that the reservation was made last December.
Heiderust is Number 19. The owners live at Number 20. As mentioned before I met the owner on my first approach. He helped me find the supervisors. On the way to the grocery store the rest of the afore mentioned sheep were moved out of the field. The seven, four week old lambs accompanied the VERY wooly sheep. It is still too chilly to shear them. The sheep are making way for horses. The farm property seems quite large.
My little cabin is close to the showers and WC's. There is a bank of three sinks for dish washing. In the cabin are bunk beds, a small table double the width of an ironing board, two stools, a radio, a fan, an electric heater, a shelf with dishes for cooking/eating, a basin for washing, and a propane gas stove.
Outside the door stands a
Herded Sheep
A country welcome to a pleasant place plastic table with two lawn chairs. There are even cushions for these chairs. Will not be sitting out there today but hopefully there will be some suntime in the next two weeks.
The couple supervising the place are extremely helpful. The wife offered me her bicycle till I rent one on Monday. Today is Sunday and things are closed ... especially in the small village of Baarlo. The husband invited me to accompany him to the closest grocery store and while he did his shopping I found my way around and bought what I needed to eat a 'real' meal. Have to stop with the bread and cheese. To begin the good eating I have cooked a chicken curry with rice and spinach salad. No great gourmet achievement especially since the “curry' came in the form of paste in a square aluminium the size of a Caesar dog food portion. It tasted delicious ... not at all like dog food!
What will remain unmentioned is that I almost gassed myself while preparing the curry. I began to feel very lightheaded and was fearful of having .... a heart attack? I went outside the cabin, left the door open
checked the elements and figured out which direction indicates OFF. .... NO heart attack. The gas works fast. This may be a better solution than a long walk into a frozen wintry forest.
Having coped with two life threatening situations ...faulty plane and propane _am going now _to take a stroll _down a country lane. No apology for schwarmy rhyme.
The walk led past the family farm houses into the pine woods, past an apple orchard and within view of a brown field. Nothing had been planted yet. But on the way to the grocery store earlier a vast field of cauliflower could be seen. This field was regularly covered with a huge sheet of plastic during frost danger nights. The walk was turned about abruptly at the sight of a dog. White lilac and wedding whreath dlowers were in evidence. There were at least three different types of pine trees whose names I have yet to enquire about.
The first day has come to a pleasant end. The Wohnwaggen( RV's) are much smallwer than the rolling apartments in Canada. There are twenty in the campground. Just now on the way to the WC I watched a man
Mule Goat Chicken
Missing is a cat, because there are enough dogs here. The Bremer Town Musician story could be acted out set his satellite and solar panel. I particularly like the sit-in attachment that goes at the front of the Wohnwaggen. Have to investigate if it is possible to attachthat to my van that has been turned into a 'sleeping' vehicle.
Ok ... back to the laundry room to load up this blog ... WiFi is not reaching my little cabin.
