Arriving early evening in Vilnius we set out walking to the downtown area and contacted Gintare, it will be a surprise as she have no clue I will be here already, my buddy Mindas and I met in Tajikistan over a month ago when he traveled with his friends Ben and Gintare and this will be a mini reunion of sorts. Having found us Gintare, in total shock led us to her flat in the downtown area, nice spacious sharing with Sigi, here roommate. We got ready to go out for a few beers. We went to Mindas' friends bar in town called......Beer here in Lithuania is suprisingly good even the dark varieties and during the course of the night may have consumed 5 pints! 2 of Gintare's male friends joined us and dancing ensued, the bar is also a sports and dance hall and on Friday night it can get crazy. The boys won a Lithuania shirt for me which I will wear to the basketball match the next day. Around 3am we set off to go home, Sigi and the 2 boys went out for more, at rout 66 I think, an American bar where they can have 34

shots. I fell asleep quickly on the floor of Gintare's living room.

The next day Mindas set off to help his little brother fix their apartment and I hang out with Gintare, first up we visited in the suburbs, her cat who now lives with someone elsE, we stopped at a local store and bought things to make sandwiches and ate in this guy's flat, the cat is Cesium a really black cat and it hissed on me , so I tried to stay away from him. It is rainy and cold and we have to take the local bus arriving in town again we fetched Davide and Sigi and went for a walk in the old town looking for a place to eat. Cili is the name of the restaurant and we hung out there for a bit, Lithuania is cheaper than Latvia and Estonia, a welcome reprieve for me. Headed to the fortress after lunch and met Mindas in the big square below it. We hung around for a bit then headed to... again to see the basketball semis between USA and Lithuania, me wearing the Lithuania shirt, I told the owner of the bar I am Lithuanian tonight. The game was really competitive and its amazing to see and experience how much support the team gets from the locals. The country of not even 4 million has a good team and though they lost everyone is very proud of their team.

We got drunk after the games, we ordered more beers, and dancing and getting really crazy on the dance floor, men started taking their shirts off so that was a cue for us to get back home plus its almost 4 am! Good night!
