We were frantic on Thursday morning with all the last minute details. Somehow we pulled it off and made it to the CLT airport with plenty of time. Good thing too, because our United flight to Dulles was delayed and they had to send us over to US Air in order to make our connecting flight to Rome. The 8 1/2 hour flight overseas included dinner, movies, breakfast and not much sleep. After we landed we went through customs, converted $ to euros, picked up our baggage and found the train into Rome. The metro signs led us through a maze in Termini station. We found our way to Lepanto and stumbled out onto the streets of Rome. I had no idea of which way to walk to find our B&B. After one block in the wrong direction a very nice gentleman found a map and redirected us. We found the B&B and quickly unpacked. The room is small, but the price is fair, the location is good, the bathroom is nice, and the breakfast is said to be legendary. We freshened up and make our way over to the metro. In no time we walked out to see the Colosseum right in front of us. We had just enough time to split a sandwich and bottle of water before out tour group got started. Hey Janine - we are in Rome. Can you believe it?
Thank you God for getting us here safely. Amen.
