Camping Kursall is on Lake Trasimeno, but not all pitches are directly adjacent to the water. The morning after we arrived we asked to be moved to a lakeside pitch if one was available and finished up on a delightful south facing spot on a small promontory, so we could look right along the lake.

This morning we awoke at 7.30, opened the blinds and were faced with the breath-taking view of the blazing sun rising shining through a mist which lay over the distant ridges and being reflected on the lake. The evening, easily seen from our pitch, was equally impressive. Two bands of cloud lay over the western hills and the sun effectively set three times as it passed through them turning the clouds around the whole perimeter of the lake into a kaleidoscope of colours.

Between these two outstanding natural phenomena we went on an enjoyable 22 mile cycle ride around the lake using gravel tracks and quiet country roads. On route, we passed through several of the villages which dot the shoreline.
