Venice
A spectacular view from our gondola ride in beautiful Venice Everyone woke up and got ready for a day of exploring Venice. We jumped into the bus and Billy dropped us off just outside of the city, it was as far as buses could go. Jamie had a little chat to us regarding how to get around the maze of streets and canals which made up Venice. We had no maps here but instead he told us to follow the signs to the main sights, but careful of any fake signs which storeowners frequently erected to lure in confused tourists. We all followed Jamie as we walked through Venice heading for St. Marks Square. I was stunned walking through this beautiful city which was like nothing I’d ever experienced before, it was incredible. Once the group arrived in St. Marks Square we had some free time to explore before meeting for a guided tour around the city. Hannah and I decided to climb the famous St. Mark’s Campanile, the tall tower which stands in one corner of the square. We bought our entry and took the shaky lift to the top. The views across Venice were fantastic however one thing was missing. From up the top of St. Mark’s Campanile you

The amazing St. Mark's Campanile, view from St. Mark's Square in Venice couldn’t actually see any of the canals, they were all concealed by the hundreds of shops and buildings scattered around Venice, still the views were great.
Afterwards we still had a bit of time before we had to meet the rest of the group so Hannah and I decided to get lost around the streets of Venice. It wasn’t long before we bumped into Laura and Krystal and continued to browse the shops and stands. Eventually we headed back into St. Mark’s Square to meet up for our guided tour. I started with loads of enthusiasm for a short guided tour around the city however after 3 minutes of her talking I was so bored it was ridiculous. As we walked along and stopped at various places along the way the group seemed to slowly get smaller, people were fed up and leaving. I was getting really sick of these very average guided tours which taught me very little about anything. Finally it was over, we were met by Jamie who then took us to our next optional activity. This was something I had been waiting for for years, and I’m sure you’ll know what it is….a Gondola ride.
Venice
Breathtaking view from the top of The Campanile in St. Mark's Square across Venice, you can barely see any canals from up here! We jumped into our Gondola as we were taken around the twisting canals of Venice, it was so much fun. Slowly we floated past windows of houses and under small bridges which connected the street above us, it was an amazing experience and seemed to get better and better as we were shown around the city. We passed restaurants, shops and even hotels which were only accessible by taking a Gondola through the canals. Afterwards Hannah and I had a bit more of a look around Venice until we felt we had seen the majority of it and eventually made our way back to where the free shuttle bus would pick us up and take us back to camp. We arrived back at camp late that afternoon and for the rest of the day sat by the pool and relaxed. I considered doing some laundry since I was starting to get a little desperate but it was too nice a day to sit by the washing machine. For dinner we were surprised that Gavo wasn’t cooking dinner, however we were eating at the camp restaurant, it was a great meal, we had plenty of drinks and again were up
