We left for Venice on Friday! Heather, Jenna, Zephyr, Mary, Jessica, Kevin and I made our way to this beautiful city without a hitch. The sun was setting and the colors left me speechless, and we hadn't even made it to Venice yet. It was just beauftiful there. The architecture was simply magnificent. The heat, though, was a complete change from the rain and damp of Galway.
Saturday we started early with a walk to San Marco square, saw the Doge's Palace and the Basilica. The morning was absolutely beautiful. Heather and Jenna wanted to go shopping so the rest of us took our own personal tour of Venice. We walked and walked to nowhere in particular. We took a nice ciesta from the July weather and met again in the early evening to have a meal together. And Gelatto. Always Gelatto. Oh, and don't bother trying to use your beginner Italian if you're going to Venice. Everyone answers you in English. We had a really hard time getting people to answer us in Italian. Even the fluent girl.
