our bed
here is our lovely bed at the hotel so after a rainy start to a Friday morning, we slowly made our way to Umbria... a region in central Italy, and the only one that doesn't touch water! we went first to Perugia, which unfortunately, it was FREEZING cold and rainy... and at certain times, it was flurrying. We spent nearly the entire day inside of a museum, bored to tears looking at picture after picture of Mary with the Baby Jesus. The entire exhibition was the Madonna pictures. Yes they were very beautiful pieces of artwork, however they were EVERYWHERE in EVERY version! from Perugia we went to a olive oil factory, and then ate at the affiliated restaurant. The next day, we made it out to Assisi... which thank goodness I had been there before as the entire city was completely covered in a blanket of fog. We saw the main two churches and by the end of that, we finally had some sunshine come out! But then we had to get on the bus and go to Spello, a tiny lil' town about 20 minutes from Assisi. We saw a beautiful chapel there, and then were giving free time. We found the lookout point and just sat

whodathunkit and baked in the sun. That night we ate at the hotel we were staying at (out in the middle of no where somewhere close to a lake in Umbria... who knows where 😊 The next morning we made it out to a tuscan town called Cortona. It was the STEEPEST place I've ever been. We were giving free time to walk about the city so I trailed off with David, one of the students in the program. We walked all the to the very top to the Fortress... but unfortunately we couldn't enter because it wasn't the season to be open... We dined on lunch there, where I had a pizza with sausage and spicy salami, with an egg cracked on top. It was delicious. and with that we took the pullman back on home and that was the weekend!
