Mini day trip to Narni today. Narni used to be known as Narnia, and about a century ago a young man named Clive Staples Lewis saw it in his atlas and thought it would make a pretty good name for a magical kingdom. The real Narni is almost as enchanting. Part of it is medieval, and they've certainly striven to maintain that if-she-weighs-more-than-a-duck-she's-made-of-wood-and-therefore-a-witch charm about the place. Geo: 42.5165, 12.5266Managed to visit two towns today. The first was Lake Bolsena, a very picturesque village set near a massive lake. To me it was nothing like the rest of Italy I have seen, although I believe the Lakes District in northern italy (where George Clooney hangs out) is similar. Bought myself a handbag here!We then moved across to Narni. This was a medieval village with completely different architecture to any other towns I have visited.We arrived home tonight just in time to meet Simona who delivered our cooked dinner of veal saltimbocca with grilled vegetables and potatoes.
