Darn, Still Trying
Leaning Tower of Pisa Okay folks in 1959, Cope was a 17 year old running around Europe on a Vespa with a friend all summer. He tells me he tried to straighten the Leaning Tower of Pisa then and it didn't work so... here he is, some years later, trying it again
We had our first experience with having wine for breakfast...yep, 9:30 am we had a breakfast stop with some crackers and guess what, wine of course. ;-) We think we could get used to this!
The buildings in Pisa are built on soft dirt, silt really and are continuing to sink. The leaning tower however has been stablized and will be here forever ;-) Pisa used to be a major port on the Arno river but silted up so the Romans had to move the port.
This is the home of Pinnochio... however we really never quite got whether it was written here or if just the name..."little pine nut" came from here Since searching the internet is a little out of the question right now, if you know the answer let us know.

"THE" Pisa Picture
I was worried you were going to by-pass Pisa and not get this classic picture. What happened when Cope moved on?
