After Arriving in Ancona, we traveled down to Florence where we started our semester abroad of study. I studied both art history and Italian...

Here are the entries from my travel journal:

5/19/10

It's the second day of classes and we are already starting to pick up the language (only a little). The lessons are very interesting and well taught. Our teacher does not know any English, but she works on teaching us grammar for 2 hours in the morning and then conversational speech for 2 hours in the afternoons for 4 days a week. Within our program, we also went to a performance theater and sat in to watch a ballet practice. The dancers were all skinnier, more muscular, and older than I originally expected >_<

Firenze is beautiful though and the people/shopping/buildings/art are overwhelmingly wonderful :-)

5/25/10

Classes make the days long, but it's starting to get warm. I felt completely inspired after touring a church earlier in the week. Wanted to paint, but didn't have a chance to.

Went to a wine tasting/tour at Malenchini the other day as well-wonderful views! Hard to believe people can own places of such beauty...

Also climbed to the top of the Duomo :D Lots of steps and great views. Morbid paintings on the roof were very interesting for a cathedral.

note: next time bring lunch and eat on the top of the Duomo, the view and setting is picnic perfect.

Side note: phrases I know and say often...

• Ti voglio bene!
• Molto Buono!
• Mi piache.... (insert everything)!
