After a great stay in Siena, we said goodbye to Gabriella and headed off to the Riomaggiore in the Cinque Terre. We travelled past Florence and headed first for Pisa. On the way there I must confess we stopped at a Mac Donalds. Now, now. This was a cross-cultural experience. We got to eat the Italian versions of the Macca meals. We also had an Italian version of a K-Mart next door where we grabbed some extra clothing (eg gloves).
After a few missed Tom-Tom directions (on my part - with colourful language) and a longer than necessary tour of the city, we finally found the leaning tower of Pisa. It was raining again but that didn't stop us - after all, we have umbrellas now!! Katie was too young to climb the tower (we shouldn't have mentioned her age as she obviously looks older) so just Eileen, Daniel and Isabel did it. Katie and I filmed from below.
I should note that this is where the photos are limited for a while. Our camera died and so have been using the video camera more. Have taken a few stills from the video to use on the blog. Probably
won't have a chance to buy a replacement until Paris.
Then headed to the Cinque Terre and reached Riomaggiore in the dark. This was probably a good thing as we could not see how high we were and how steep the cliffs were that we were negotiating. Our lodging was another BnB called "Locanda Ca' dei Duxi". Had a nice dinner at a local restaurant, a quick walk around town and then off to bed. Excited to see what the place really looks like tomorrow and a walk along the coast walks to the four other villages.

Sounds great
Hi There, I have just found your blog. My husband and I are going to Italy next year staying 2 weeks in Arezzo and 2 weeks in Masa Lubrense on the coast near Sorrento. I was wondering what you are using to update your blog? Are you carrying a laptop or Ipad or some such. We used travelblog when we did a caravan trip around Australia in 2006 but did all our entries on a laptop using a wireless connection. How long are you in Europe for and I guess you are getting some really cold weather by now. Enjoying reading about your travels and the photos so far have been great. Can't wait to get there ourselves. Cheers Stubbseys
