It has been said that the mark of a good meal is when each course leaves you craving just one more bite. If you have too much of one flavor, you lose your desire for it. In July of 2011, we made the decision to leave our comfortable jobs in Northern California to see the world. We weren’t sure where we were going to go or how long we would be gone, but we wanted an adventure and we knew we could find it if we looked carefully enough. We would travel slowly, staying in cities and towns for longer periods than most tourists have time for. Hopefully, it would give us an opportunity to observe local life in a unique way. Always a good idea. Even though we may appreciate the finer details of a beach vacation because we are divers and avid water people we understand your point about beach vacations. Sorry your time in Italy is ending so soon. It seems as if you've just gotten there. We really enjoyed the Sistine Chapel that thought it was quite a sight. Maybe it is understated compared to the rest of Rome but that is what we liked about it. Always love the bicycle photos. They seem to tell so many stories.

I shouldn't have picked on beach vacations. We have had many nice ones. I should have just stuck with one dimensional trips (amusement parks?). The Sistine Chapel was very nice. I think I built it up so much that nothing could have lived up to my expectations. Thanks for reading! Love following the Ireland trip!

It's beautiful
Rome is a special place. We have travelled a lot and can't believe this is the first time here. I understand fully why people throw a coin in Trevi Fountain insuring they will return some day!
