Vatican Museum
Yes, we left the van in Formentera, flew from Ibiza to Madrid, then flew straight on from Madrid to Rome. We spent four nights in Rome, and we walked our socks off trying to see all the great monuments in three days. Day 1 was Vatican museum, Sistine chapel, St Peter's square and San Augusto Castel. Day 2 was the Vittoriano, Venetian Palazzo and the Colusseum and Day 3 was Plazza Navona, the Trevi fountain and Plaza Spagna. We absolutely loved it, and had a really good time. On Day 4 we flew from Rome back to Madrid and spent three nights in Madrid. Madrid has some really impressive architecture, but we were so blown away by Rome that Madrid didn’t stand a chance. We did spend a whole day in the Prado Museum in Madrid, and that was really good. We were surprised at how cold it was in Madrid, around 12 degrees, much colder than we’ve become use to! All in all, we had a super week.

We thought this was a really impressive marble sculpture - how did he get that veil effect in marble? It is a bust of Queen Isabel II by Camillo Torreggiani 1855.
