Wicklow Way
My first break on the way So I have now finished the first of many treks to come. Probably not the most challenginf trek in the world but proved quite tough for me and also gave me some insight in how it will be to travel the world with over 20kgs onmy back. I am now in quite some pain from blisters and muscle pain in my legs!!!
So myself and Steven started from Crone car park in Glencree where we head for Djouce Mountain in Wicklow (725m).As this was my first tough trek with weight it prved quite stressfull. We must of takin our first break around an hour after leaving the car park and reached a the top of a few large hills. After an hour the legs were feeling the pain around the top of the quads, I was starting to dread what they might feel like but knew once I would pass the pain barrier they might not be so bad, or at least the might go numb with the pain. Once past Djouce we walked for some time on on the ridge to the JB Malone memorial which was a ough ride through the wind, Steven was blown off once or

Steven all kitted out for a sunny day twice, I had my sticks for some good balance, these proved to be my best friend onthis trip and save my legs some pain.
After the memorial we progressed to our camp for the first night, we found a lovely litle camping spot just on the summit of Padock Hill. We set up camp and had a lovely spagetti dinner. Quite a treat.
Waking up the next morning and trying to move my legs was a challenge in itself. It took some time for my legs to loosen up and quite into quite a rythm on Saturday. We had a lesurely walk to Glendalough for a couple of pints with the rest of the tourists to the area and were quickly on our way to tackle the biggest hills of the trip. We had a gradual clim for the day along the Spink and found some breathtaking views of glendalough and the surrounding area. We were told that at the highest peak would reach that there was a hut that at a push you could sleep in. We were not really in the mood to pitch the tent so set our sights on the Hut. We walked past where we

One of the helpful boardwalks told about the hut but no sign, the hut did not seem to be real!!! We eventually started our decent and as the rain was strong at this time we figured we would have to walk right down to Glenmalure which is were we were supposed to arrive on Sunday not Saturday! Over an hour into the descent I could hear Stevens voice with delight, We had found the hut, and what a beautiful sight it was, I could hardly walk anymore, the rain was extremely heavy and inside the hut it was bone dry although not front on the hut it didnt let a drop of rain enter. We set up our sleeping bags, then the stone and enjoyed a lovely dinner. We even had some wine which went down extremely well under the circumstances. I had a great nights sleep although the rain and wind picked up severly it was a great experience.
Sunday morning we took our time getting up, had sausages for breakfast and had a nice walk down to the Glenmalure lodge where we enjoyed a fair few wel deserved pints 😊
The next entry will most likely be closer to my first visit to

First descent South America. Might have one or two treks before I leave but might just take it easy until then.
