Bogota South America » Colombia » Bogota
After another day in Medellin spent with Elliot from London we made our way by another night bus to Bogota. Unfortunately on this bus our seats would not recline very much so we were stuck in an upright position for 9 straight hours but I think I managed a few minutes sleep, at least our bus wasn´t leaking!!! We arrived to "Hostel Platypus" at around 7am and was told our room would not ready until 12! Shortley after while we were trying to wake up in the lounge area we met to New Zealanders, Matt and Melissa. The of us then [View Full Entry]

Medellin South America » Colombia » Medellin
So we have arrived safe and sound in medellin, the home town of El Señor, Pablo Escobar. Our bus journey unfortauntely was not as pleasant as some before. We luckily got the seats up the front but there was very little leg room and then to make matter worse there was a leak above my seat so my pants started to get soaked. I stuck some tissue up in the roof which slowed it down but I awoke at 4.30 in the morning with weat tracksuit bottoms. Fortunately 30mins later the bus stopped and half the people got off the bus [View Full Entry]

So I had previously written this blog only for the computer I was on to crash and leave me with nothing I had written so I had given up but I will attempt it again now. We ended up ataying for a total of 4 night in Cartagena, orginally we had only planned to spend a couple of nights but we heard that the Carnival for their independance with a finale of Miss Columbia was on so we could not resist a couple of nights at a South American carnival. We ended up spending quite a lot of time with the [View Full Entry]

Taganga South America » Colombia » Santa Marta » Taganga
So after a long and gruelling journey over the border from Venezuela which included paying numurous officials off and queing for long periods in the raging heat we finally arrived in Taganga. Taganga is a little fishing village around 5 Km outside the town of Santa Marta. It is very popular for diving and just chilling out on the Carribean. We were particularly excited as it was our first trip to the carribean on our travels. On arrival at Taganga we sought out somewhere to stay. We went with a palce called Casa Blanca which is literally on the waters edge. [View Full Entry]

Pan De Azucar South America » Venezuela » Andean » Mérida
So I have finally summited my first mountain of some sort of altitude. he Mountain is called Pan De Azucar and the altitude at the summit is 4680 meters. It is 27 miles north of Merida in the Andes. We set off from the agency in Merida at 8am on Monday morning all set with our tent, sleeping bags, lots of food, gloves, a lots of warm clothes. The climb on the first was not too difficult, the only issue was our bags on our back, although it was slighty lighter than it usually is was still giving us a challenge. [View Full Entry]

SO we have just finished a four day trek in Los Llanos. Los Llanos is a flatland area that is buzzing with wildlife. We were a bit hesitant at first to book the tour as a result of our last tour in the Amazon which we didn't see very much even though we were promised we´d see crocs etc. The first day of our tour was very relaxed. We got picked up at the bus station in Barinos and met the rest of our group for the four days. Unfortunately our group was not as good as at Angel Falls. There [View Full Entry]

Yeehaa - just the the wild west!

We left Ciudad Bolivar three days ago for our 1 and a half hour flight to Canaima National Park. Our plane turned out to be a six seater airplane which was awesome. It reminded me of the little mini that my dad used to drive us to school in. The inside felt like it was around 20 years old with huge circular dials for the speed and altitude. It took off after around 50 meters on the runway, was like we were only going around 50 miles an hour. On arrival we were greeted by our tour guide "fready" who is [View Full Entry]

I am highly starting to doubt I will ever find an internet quick enough to load my photo´s up however I shall keep attempting, one of these days I might get one or two photo´s up ;) So we got our bus yesterday from Manaus overnight to Bo Vista in north Brasil. When we were on the bus I realised that I no longer had the form I was given at the airport on arrival. This form is to state how long you can stay in the country and was stamped by immigration. I read in my Lonely Plant book that [View Full Entry]
