Cliffs of Moher
Cliffs of Moher Today I took a drive from Bunratty to the Cliffs of Moher. I stopped off on the way at St Bridgits Well, a quant little cemetary with a room whereby you could leave gifts in memory for the departed. There was a stream running through and it made a nice memorial. Drove to Moher and the cliffs were stunning. It was a little windy, some points you were stopped in your tracks and had to hold hard not to be walking backwards. Very gusty in places, and in others it was calm, depending on where the wind was at the time. Got some great photos, cant wait to show you.
At one point in the cliff face, there was a waterfall producing a stream down the cliff. This went for about 5 metres before the strong vertical winds turned it around and sprayed it back over the top. And when you walked nearby, the droplets pelted you hard.
I took a drive north from there visiting many other attractions including an area called the Burren. The history of this area is something else. I visited Paulnabrone Tomb, a wonderful arrangement of stones along a desolate hillscape. Cahconnel Stone Fort
Cliffs of Moher
Cliffs of Moher was a ring fort that was large for its time. They are still excavating here to find ouit more detail on the people that lived there. I drove past Leamaneh Castle but couldnt go in - I think its on private property.
Back to Bunratty and dinner at Durty Nellies before retiring to the bnb. Watched a little of the Rose of Tralee and saw the australian rose. retired to bed before the winner was announced.
