Crazy Hungarian light-show.
Evenin' all.

Since last we blogged we have been enjoying the delights and....well, the other bits of Budapest. Sam insisted we discuss the extremely fast escalators that you need a prepared run-up to get on 'cos they're so quick. And the lifts that have not been serviced since the fall of the Soviet Union and therefore cant really take Ben jumping around doing busted impressions!

Anyways our first night saw us stumbling upon the rather spectacular light-art-show-thing, certainly brightens up the place! Since then we have seen the awesome Parliament building, Basilica, and hero's square, the slightly less awesome Royal palace and today the pretty uninspiring castle. We also strolled through a nearby park only to be called into action to rescue a cute lil' dog which had strayed from its owner...we'll be in Hero's square before you know it.

The nights in Budapest have been equally as mixed as the days as last night we attempted to partake in some kind of nightlife....and found none. We found a few restaurants/bars on the street suggested to us by the woman at the hostel as well as the possesions of half the city. Still remains a mystery as to

why there were several large piles of "stuff" that people were idly sifting through. Tonight has involved me (Dan) leaving Ben and Sam to (what im told was) a lovely romantic meal and going in search of a game of rugby. The result of which was not quite how I wished and hence I may have looked like a crazy person as I sat and cursed in the corner of a bar.

An update on general ailments sees Sam feeling a great deal better but Dan has somehow managed to pull/catch something in his neck. Which makes tonight even worse as drowning my sorrows is not an option as Im on pain killers. Despite my pleas of desperation Sam and Ben said I was not allowed to have a single beer tonight. Think Bens starting to feel like some kind of carer with mine and Sams.....problems.

Until next time, when we may all be in perfect health.

Hi folks, Budapest sounds really "exiting" (sarcastic speech marks). If fast escalators and dog rescues were the highlights of your visit no doubt you have moved on to pastures new and are having fun again!Really enjoying keeping in touch with you all.Just in case-Get well wishes to whoever is suffering whatever at the moment. Bye for now from overcast Harrogate.

Buildings, rugger & ailments
Loved the picture of the wavy building and have a feeling Dan might have had an influence on the taking of it. Good prog on Sunday for architectural awards. The McClaren and BMW buildings were up for it and very lovely but the Scottish Parliament building won-contraversial. Hope to go and see it next Monday as we head up to Scotland. Have been keeping up with the sport. Got involved in discussions about Beckhams's sending of and nearly drove off the road when Leeds scored their (dis-allowed) equaliser. Seems they played badly and I imagine the only plus is that you didn't miss anything Dan. Strange about the old neck thing as I have been stricken with the same today and am not the only one in school. Not fun is it. Hope you are coping Ben and glad its not stopping your Stadium obsession. Pashmina sounds very elegant Sam and would quite like pic of you in it, in a suitably elegant setting. Please fill us in if you ever do find out what the piles of stuff were about. Not sure where you are now but thinking of you all. Love Mum/Debbie

Missing country?
How did you all get from Prague to Budapest? Did you give Austria/Slovakia a miss, or am I reading the map wrong? Who copied who's Parliement building, the Brits or the Hungarians?
