With the flight cancellation and delays, I was 2 days off schedule. Fortunately, the ferry to Chios was at 4pm, so I could sleep in and recover from the crazy two days of travel. I didn't do much in Athens, we took it slow on Friday morning. Christina's car needed repair, so we took her car to the Suzuki garage and left it there. Funny thing is, the day I arrived in Greece is the day the electric company union decided to go on strike, because all quotes were on the computer the garage could not give us a quote for the repairs. So we left the car there. Actually, taking the elevator up to Christina's apartment was not an option, the electric company would turn off and on the power without notice and the last ... read more

It's amazing what a difference a 45 minute boat ride can make! I left Tuesday night for the closest Grecian island to Cesme, which is called Chios. Each time I asked for a map or a guidebook, people could only offer me vague maps of the entire island, so I was really curious what this small town and island might behold! Honestly, I've always wanted to do a Grecian island cruise of some sort, so thought it was a good opportunity to catch a glimpse of one, if only for a few nights! When I arrived, i was cracking up - here I am again in another country with another currency (back to Euros!) and a completely crazy foreign language! I mean, across Europe, you can usually deduct most signs, or at least read them!!! But ... read more

(úgy kb. 80 ... read more

A quick run down of my travels from when I last left off (on the boat from Kushadasi to Samos)...... Shan and I caught the ferry from Kusadasi and arrived in Samos more than a little hungover from our nights adventures in Kusadasi and decided that given there was a boat going in a coupe of hours to Ikaria, an Island we realy wanted to visit, despitre our hangovers from the night before we had better get on it.......best decision of the trip we made. Although at the time we were both craving a bed, hanging out for another 3-4 hours was a great decision. To paint a picture think no package tourists, white sandy beaches, crystal clear water and no traffic noise. This pretty much summed up where we stayed on Ikaria (and the Island ... read more
