We never planned on visiting Crete this time, but our week there was great. We began with Sitia, in the northeast. This was a quiet little seaside village with few tourists and a very nice sandy beach. Nearby, at Vai Beach, was a natural palm forest which is unique to the Greek Islands. The Minoan Prince mural from the ruins of Knossos. These restored murals are the originals that were found in the excavation of the Palace of Knossos. Imitations are now at the ruins.

The Palace at Knossos, on Crete, was destroyed by the volcanic eruption on Santorini that destroyed much of Santorini and created the caldera where part of the island once was.

As always...lovely
I really liked the videos of the market...and sooooooo wanted some of those olives! The ferry was a noisy one :) The photos of Mykonos were just lovely and I thrilled to see the dolphin mosaic wall in the Queens rooms, as I included dolphin fabric in my "Greek" block to the May Block Queen :) Looking forward to your being stateside again so we can catch up on the phone!
