Whew what a long bus ride today. Luke and I got up in the dark. Its dark here at 8:00 in the morning. We found the bus station and managed to find a bus to the tip of Spain. From there we actually walked into Gibraltar. You have to go through a custom area and across the small airport to get out the the 'rock'. Its pretty wild to go from a Spanish speaking area to an English speaking one. Everything is pounds and british food etc. The main reason for coming was to see the apes or barbary monkeys, that live on the upper rock. We hoped to catch the cable car going up but it was closed due to high winds. Instead we walked..... oh yeah up hill.....around windy roads... with cars honking at us. You'd laugh Jim!! we only paid 1$ because we walked in instead of drove. Anyway, we found the apes/monkeys. They were just walking around the old ruins of the military bases that protected Spain and then the British port. There were a bunch of abandon bunkers and caves where the army hid out. Monkeys just come right up to you. One jumped on someone's

car and took a ride down the road sitting on their rear view window. We found a secret way down this walking path and ended up behind the Rock Hotel, a fancy hotel that looks shabby from the outside but is beautiful inside. We ended up coming down these old staircases that came down the mountain probably a hundred years ago. If anyone is up for the adventure you go to the Rock Hotel and cut up through their 'garden path' to the right of the dining area. Theres a staircase in the back covered in vines and pretty hanging flowers. That will lead up to an old road that goes all the way up to where the apes are.

The place we are in tonight, the Cannon Hotel is not near as nice as the others. Much more like a run down guest house. We share a bath and the beds look lumpy but I think after a day of travel we will pass out either way. Its the same price too as the really nice place we stayed last night in Seville. Oh well, good old English charm (not).

Tomorrow we hope to head out to Rhonda. Not sure how to get there from here.. Oh we can see the coast of North Africa from here. Looking across the water at it is wild. There's a mountain right across from Gibraltar that Ill have to look up.
