As well as the Rotweinwanderweg, the valley also has the Ahr-Radweg, a cycle path running for 80km from the Ahr’s confluence with the Rhine at Sinzig to its source at Blankenheim.

In generally sunny weather interspersed with a few thunderstorms we took the train to Remagen, followed the Rhine for a short way and then along the Ahr-Radweg on beautiful locations close to the river and through the many pretty towns and villages back to Mayschoss. A total of 17 miles cycling.

The day was finished by tasting and then buying some of the red tipple from the local wine co-operative.

This is the Whitsun weekend, a bank holiday in Germany, and the manager spent the evening squeezing as many vans as he possible could onto the site. We are moving on tomorrow and hope that we will be able to find somewhere to stay.
