We spent the day on a 16k walk from Mayschoss to another of the Ahr Valley towns, Ahrweiler. We went along the route called the Rotweinwanderweg which follows scenic tracks and minor roads high above the valley used as access for tending the vines on their steep slopes.

There is a train with an hourly service which runs along beside the river and calls at all the villages. We used this to get back to the van.
